Best Watches for Men 2021

Our  favourite new and upcoming watches from big Swiss brands

Bulgari

Personalisation has been a huge part of trainer culture and streetwear for the last half-century. Seldom has it been taken up by a luxury watch brand - at least not officially. Bulgari’s Octo Roma Naturalia is a customisable, high-jewellery watch that gives the buyer a choice of precious stones (black onyx, lapis lazuli or malachite) and case materials (titanium, rose gold or platinum), while the case back can be engraved anyway you like, leading to a true one-off piece.

The whole thing is run through a new app, the Bulgari Maestria App Configurator, available to shoppers in Bulgari boutiques for now and – who knows – maybe your smartphone eventually.

Gucci

ucci is not at home to casual understatement, a philosophy applicable to its watches as it is to its clothes. New for 2021 is the Gucci 25H, so-called because the label’s creative director Alessandro Michele believes the number holds symbolic power (his birthday is 25 November).

The watch is its first foray into "fine watchmaking" and features its first in-house Swiss-made movement, something that sets it apart from many other “fashion” watches. It features a tourbillon and comes in platinum and yellow gold versions.

Carl F Bucherer

well and truly plundered for inspiration by watchmakers. With good reason – it was a golden age for watch design. Carl F Bucherer’s Heritage collection turns the dial back slightly more, to the refined and elegant Fifties.

A new version of its Heritage BiCompax Annual comes with a reverse panda dial that gives its clean, mid-century style a sportier twist. If you’re in the market for a vintage inspired sports watch that stands apart from the crowd but doesn't require a new mortgage, this is the one.
